Immigrant women who meet the following criteria can be referred to the Practice Firm:

  • Entitled to work in Canada;

  • Job-ready but experiencing difficulty finding employment due to the lack of work experience; and

  • In need of work experience but their work experience needs cannot be met through
    targeted Wage Subsidies, Job Creation Partnerships or other local employment services.

     Referrals of participants to the Practice Firm

Candidates who wish to participate in the Practice Firm program will speak with a staff member who will complete an intake and assessment. Selection will be based on the candidate's suitablility for the program and meeting the specific requirements of the chosen position.

Once the participants have decided that they are interested in the program, they must get an official referral from one of the Employment Assessment Centers.

     The Practice Firm Program

The program is up to 12 weeks with 75-80% of time allotted to work experience and 20-25% of time allotted to job search. Participants may be referred for those positions in seven departments (click the department to see positions):


Accounting

Information Technology

Logistics

Ware Housing

 

Human Resource

Office Administration

Marketing & Sales

 

Note: Participants will not receive living allowances or other remuneration for their participation in the practice firm, though they may continue to receive income from other sources.
